Sonic

Sonic is a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain developed by the Fantom Foundation as the next generation of Fantom Opera. Sonic targets 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second finality through fundamental improvements to the consensus mechanism, database engine, and execution pipeline.

소닉은 팬텀 재단이 팬텀 오페라의 차세대 버전으로 개발한 고성능 EVM 호환 레이어 1 블록체인이다. 소닉은 합의 메커니즘, 데이터베이스 엔진, 실행 파이프라인의 근본적인 개선을 통해 1초 미만의 완결성으로 초당 10,000건의 트랜잭션(TPS)을 목표로 한다.

Sonic launched its mainnet in December 2024 as an independent chain from Fantom Opera. FTM holders can migrate to the new S token at a 1:1 ratio through the migration bridge¹. Sonic maintains full EVM compatibility while offering significantly improved performance metrics compared to Fantom Opera.

소닉은 2024년 12월 팬텀 오페라와 독립된 체인으로 메인넷을 출시했다. FTM 보유자는 마이그레이션 브리지를 통해 새 S 토큰으로 1:1 비율로 이전할 수 있다. 소닉은 완전한 EVM 호환성을 유지하면서 팬텀 오페라 대비 크게 향상된 성능 지표를 제공한다.

SonicDB is a custom database engine purpose-built for the Sonic blockchain. Unlike Fantom Opera which used LevelDB¹, SonicDB is optimized for the specific access patterns of blockchain state data — particularly the Lachesis consensus DAG and EVM state trie². SonicDB reduces storage requirements by approximately 90% compared to Fantom Opera.

소닉DB는 소닉 블록체인을 위해 특별히 제작된 커스텀 데이터베이스 엔진이다. LevelDB¹를 사용했던 팬텀 오페라와 달리, 소닉DB는 블록체인 상태 데이터—특히 라케시스 합의 DAG와 EVM 상태 트리—의 특정 접근 패턴에 최적화되어 있다. 소닉DB는 팬텀 오페라 대비 스토리지 요구량을 약 90% 줄인다.

Sonic introduces Fee Monetization¹, a developer incentive program where smart contract developers receive up to 90% of the transaction fees generated by their contracts. This creates a direct economic incentive for developers to build high-traffic applications on Sonic, as more usage directly translates to more revenue for the developer.
